The Reading People for success in Supervision Leading workshop is driven by research undertaken by Harvard and Stanford Universities for the Carnegie Foundation. The results found that only fifteen percent (15%) of job-related success was based on technical competence. Eighty-five percent (85%) of job-related success was a based on inter-personal skills. World leaders like Nokia who have given the so-called soft skills pride of place in their operations have grasped the importance of these findings. Nowhere is a working understanding of this concept more important to organizational success than at the supervisory level. There is no shortage of ideas and opportunities. It is in the implementation of your strategic vision that things fall apart. The effectiveness of your middle management and supervisory personnel is a major determinant of your success.

There is no doubt that the people challenge is one of the most important issues to be dealt with as you strive for competitiveness. You have to bring new strategies to bear on this vexed problem. People skills are not acquired naturally. They have to be taught. This interactive workshop includes:

  • Using the concept of the Extended DISC language of behaviours to provide your supervisors with a non-threatening vocabulary for relating to others. It also represents a fast track for the more effective leadership of people.
  • Working with proven strategies, which have been moulded into a comprehensive system that goes to the core of attitudinal, motivational and commitment issues that are central to the performance of individuals and teams.
  • Mastering principles that give your people managers a proven set of tools for reading and dealing with the nuances of others to achieve objectives and engender shared commitment.
  • Learning appropriate responses to the behavioural preferences of others so as to minimize conflict, increase co-operation, teamwork and productivity and, in general, enhance organizational competitiveness.

The use of Extended DISC personal assessment tools lends a great deal of credibility to the process and creates an environment in which participants become more receptive to the learning initiatives. The workshop is guaranteed to have your people managers bring 'now I understand' and 'that is why' realizations to the day-to-day operations of the teams they lead and to producing a climate for increased harmony and enhanced productivity.

"Reading People for Success" workshop participants display increased confidence in handling inter-personal relations and in accepting the value of diversity in teams. Participants get immersed in one interactive exercise after another as they come to grips with the building blocks of inter-personal relationships in a warm and non-threatening environment.
